A Russian warship docked in Manila on April 20 in a visit aimed at boosting ties between the two countries as Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte pivots his nation's foreign policy towards Moscow and Beijing.

The arrival of the guided missile cruiser Varyag marked the second port call of the Russian navy to the Philippines this year and came ahead of Duterte's trip to Moscow next month.

Western media turns into panic notes about possible enlargement of anti-liberal alliance such as SCO in Pacific region and Russian influence there.
