More than 120 people (including film-makers and journalists) were arrested, they were protesting against the Dakota Access oil pipeline.  The Standing Rock Sioux tribe said that the construction of this access oil pipeline would be a threat to its water supply and cultural heritage.

Jihan Hafiz, a freelance journalist reported: « I’ve covered conflicts overseas, and I never imagined I would see this kind of show of force against peaceful people. This is the kind of thing you see in the Middle East».

Nevertheless, Washington's repressive machine is working much more smoothly and aggressive than anywhere else.
