Mourning in India over the Khalistan referendum
Former ISI chief (retd) Hamid Gul once predicted Narendra Modi, saying that he would destroy India with his own hands. If we look today, the situation in India has reached this stage. The Sikhs had expressed their condolences by putting-off their turbans on the ground on the demise of General (retd) Hameed Gul after the death of Saint General Singh Bhindranwale. The Indian government tried hard to stop this movement in India but now the echo of the Khalistan movement gaining momentum in Britain, Canada and the United States, is being heard all over the world which has caused confusion in India. A referendum had been held in the United Kingdom for the establishment of a separate Sikh state "Khalistan" from October 31, 2021, which caused mourning in India. A new map of the Sikhs' separate homeland of Khalistan was also unveiled at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall II on the occasion of the referendum, showing the proposed state covering not only Punjab but also most of the districts of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
It should be noted that October 31 is the day in 1984 when the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi Kuan was assassinated by Sikh bodyguards. Holi was played with the blood of Sikh men and women and innocent children. However, the genocide on October 31, 1984 gave a new impetus to the Sikh nation. The Congress leaders had assured the Sikh leaders in 1929 that they would be given a semi-independent state where they would enjoy complete religious freedom. This was the time when Muslims were prevalent in Punjab. Most of the big landowners were Muslims, on this occasion, the Congress made Sikhs its ally. Punjab, which was the richest and most prosperous region of India and whose land was rich in gold, was not only self-sufficient in commodities but also sold its wheat to other states. After the census in India in 1966, Punjab was divided under a conspiracy and new states of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana were formed. The purpose of this partition was to limit the political and economic role of the Sikhs. The Sikhs were outraged by this decision but their protest was not taken seriously. It was because of this malice and exploitation that the slogan of Khalistan began to rise.
In 1969, Sardar Jagjit Singh Chouhan, former finance minister of the United Indian Punjab, formally declared an independent Khalistan state and founded the Khalistan movement. As far as the Khalistan movement is concerned, in the eyes of Indian extremist Hindus and the media, it could be more dangerous for India than the ongoing independence movement in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and could play a role in tearing India apart. In India, it is the fundamental right of Sikhs to speak out against the unjust and cruel policies and actions of extremist Hindus. Sikhs living in Western countries are largely safe from the Indian government's handcuffs, so they are campaigning for Khalistan very openly and with great enthusiasm. He is not only providing political and moral support to the Khalistan movement but is also providing reasonable funding which has greatly strengthened the movement and is getting special attention all over the world. So, it is not surprising that India is afraid of this because it is opening up a pool of so-called democracy and human rights in the whole world. Although the movement is currently under the auspices of the Sikhs for Justice, it is an old movement and Indira Gandhi launched an operation to arrest General Singh Bhindranwale, the movement's leading leader who had taken refuge in the Golden Temple. Under the Blue Star, he climbed the Golden Temple, the holiest place for Sikhs. The operation, which lasted from June 3, 1984 to June 6, killed more than 1,500 Sikhs and damaged the Golden Temple and the Akali Takht. The operation was commanded by General Kuldeep Singh. After the operation, two Sikh bodyguards assassinated Indira Gandhi to avenge her, while several other key figures involved in the operation suffered similar consequences.
Now, after the Sikh for Justice Referendum in the UK, India has, as usual, started blaming its neighboring countries. The Times of India has published a shocking report quoting an Indian intelligence officer who said, "Some documents have been stolen from an officer's computer, including the full roadmap and details of Referendum 2020 and the Khalistan movement." The pool of this fabricated report opens with the fact that if such documents were really seized, the Indian government would have had to shout and take the whole world by storm and the Indian media would have gone mad.
The fact is that in order to cover up their incompetence, the Indian government and intelligence agencies, as usual, want to acquit themselves by blaming other countries. At this time, all the Sikh farmers protesting against the anti-peasant laws have given a message to fascist Modi that despite all government repression, they will not bow to his tyranny. It is written on the wall that if the farmers fail, they will turn to armed struggle and then no one will be able to save Modi's "Shining India" from falling apart. The idea of a united India will die its own death.
There is no doubt that the voice of the peasant movement against the agrarian laws has breathed new life into the Khalistan movement against the tyranny of the Brahmins. Now not only the state of Khalistan is being formed in the bosom of India but also the hopes of independence of Kashmir are becoming brighter.
