The psychiatrization of dissension

In the Soviet Union, political dissent was treated as a mental illness. Opponents of communist power were sometimes diagnosed with false mental illnesses and, from that moment, they were locked up in an asylum for an unlimited time. One of the first psychiatric hospitals in which prisoners were held for political reasons was that of Kazan, where eighteen hundred inmates died in thirty years. Over three thousand passed away in the asylum facility on the island of Svijažsk.
The famous anti-Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky, victim of the psychiatric repression of Marxist totalitarianism, fought and exposed what were defined as “psychopathological mechanisms of dissent”.
A sinister echo of these facts was heard in Fano [1], in the Marche region of Italy, where an 18-year-old who refused to wear a mask at school was forcefully taken by the police and subjected to Mandatory Health Treatment. At the moment [9 May, 2021], the victim is locked up in a psychiatric ward.
The young man was non-violently opposing the absurd health regulations imposed by the State, such as the one that enjoins wearing a mask in the classroom, for five consecutive hours, or outdoors. The student's protest should have questioned, at least, the school principal and the teaching staff, but it was preferred to have him institutionalized by treating him as a deranged.
We are in the presence of a disturbing return, that of the psychiatrization of dissent. Anyone who questions the official narrative of the alleged pandemic is treated like a “madman” to be hospitalized, of course, for “the sake” of him.
In November last year, in Giovanni Floris' TV show on La7, Barbara Gallavotti [2], a biologist affiliated with that positivist wreck known as “CICAP” [3], hiding behind neuroscientist Bruce Miller, stated that those who question the official narrative on COVID, the branded ones called “deniers”, would be “demented”.
Some time ago, in the fifty-second CENSIS report [4], reference was made to an execrable “psychic sovereignty”, defined by the Treccani encyclopedia: “Mental attitude characterized by the identity defense of one's presumed living space” [5]. In 2018, a French court ordered Marine Le Pen to undergo a psychiatric examination as part of an investigation in which she was accused of disseminating images of the violence committed by the Islamic State.
Forensic psychiatrist at Yale medical school, Bandy X. Lee, interviewed in “Scientific American”, said that Trump and his supporters were subjects to be treated [6]:
“The reasons - Lee argued - are multiple and varied, but in my recent public-service book, Profile of a Nation, I have outlined two major emotional drives: narcissistic symbiosis and shared psychosis. Narcissistic symbiosis refers to the developmental wounds that make the leader-follower relationship magnetically attractive. The leader, hungry for adulation to compensate for an inner lack of self-worth, projects grandiose omnipotence —while the followers, rendered needy by societal stress or developmental injury, yearn for a parental figure. When such wounded individuals are given positions of power, they arouse similar pathology in the population that creates a “lock and key” relationship. ‘Shared psychosis’—which is also called ‘folie à millions’ [“madness for millions”] when occurring at the national level or ‘induced delusions’ —refers to the infectiousness of severe symptoms that goes beyond ordinary group psychology. When a highly symptomatic individual is placed in an influential position, the person’s symptoms can spread through the population through emotional bonds, heightening existing pathologies and inducing delusions, paranoia and propensity for violence —even in previously healthy individuals. The treatment is removal of exposure.”
Clear, isn't it? Trump, with his compensatory narcissistic pathology, would have induced a general psychosis in his constituents, all obviously looking for a parental figure and, for this reason, he must be removed. More than a “scientific" diagnosis, it looks like a re-edition of the phony psychiatry of the Soviets, with a few more Freudian elements. Surprisingly, no such thing came to light when the crowds raged and elected Barack Obama.
Progressives, or the new trinariciuti [7] Bolsheviks, are adopting the old methods: turning every thinking mind into a sick mind.
