Tuesday, 20 December, 2016 - 10:30

The U.N. General Assembly has adopted a resolution against rehabilitating and promoting Nazi beliefs and countering its contemporary forms. The overwhelming majority of countries – 136 voted for this resolution. Thus, in 2015 4 countries - USA, Canada, Palau and Ukraine voted against, but this time the United States and Ukraine have only supported Nazism. Canada and Palau have taken a neutral stance and refrained.

The document notes the need for measures to combat the destruction of monuments and dissemination of Nazi and xenophobic ideas in the Internet.

However, the resolutions adopted by the General Assembly are not binding on all countries.
