Seoul has postponed the attack on the DPRK to 2018

During the present parliamentary audit, the South Korea's military declared the need for Special Forces, whose missions should include operations against the DPRK’s elite, including the physical elimination of Kim Jong-Il.

The Army Chief of Staff Jang Jun-Kyu confirmed: «The Army is seeking to have a special operations unit capable of infiltrating (enemy territory), completing its given mission and coming back in one piece».

The Maj. Gen. Jang Kwang-Hyun, chief commander of the Army's Aviation Operations Command, imparted his apprehensions about the US occupation of South Korea. He recalled: «We are now heavily dependent on the U.S. for special operations involving aviation elements. In order to conduct independent operations, we will improve the functions of our own assets».

Thus, the military command is planning to reduce the dependence of South Korean troops from Washington. The representative Baek Seung-joo from the ruling Saenuri Party notes that it needs to happen «as quickly as possible».

However, the capability of creating such special troops will be possible by 2018.
