Monday, 25 July, 2016 - 15:00

The Ministry of Education of Russia introduces a new subject "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture". It will now be mandatory to study in all classes of secondary school. It is expected that students will take a course for one or two hours a week.

The subject is now being studied only in the fourth and fifth grades, and may be replaced by other subjects.

Not so long the Olympiad of the Orthodox University was included in the state list of competitions for 2016-2017.

The final decision by the Ministry of Education should be taken until the August 22 this year after the course program will be finally drafted and reviewed.

"Katehon" considers the introduction of the new subject in the school curriculum a very timely and healthy measure.
