Before the historic Russian president's visit to Japan, China has stepped up anti-Japanese activities around the disputed territories.

For example, the fleet of three Chinese ships held patrolling the Diaoyu Islands (also known as the Senkaku Islands), disputed by Japan.

Earlier on Saturday, six Chinese planes were seen in the vicinity of Okinawa, because of which air Japanese fighters were activated, despite the fact that Japan's Ministry of Defense has acknowledged that Beijing did not break someone else's airspace. In connection with these actions,  two countries have exchanged notes of protest.
