US cyber attacks on Iran. Tehran answers: "Death to America"
25.06.2019
The United States launches a wave of cyber attacks against Iran and thus responds to the killing of the drone by the Tehran army. The announcement was made yesterday by Pentagon officials, who confirmed the action of the Cyber Command. A reaction that helped Donald Trump to make it clear that he was not willing to unleash his air force and his fleet against Iran, but at the same time was able to hit Iranian territory and the Guardians of the Revolution, the Pasdaran, with an extremely dangerous surgical attack on Tehran's technological infrastructure. According to the first rumors, the attack would have hit an Iranian intelligence group responsible for monitoring the Strait of Hormuz. The goal was to “defuse” the computers that control missile launches in the area where the attacks on the two tankers took place and where the Global Hawk was shot down.
The tension therefore shows no sign of abating. The Persian Gulf is bubbling and now, despite the fact that the President of the United States continues to reiterate that he does not want a war, it is clear that the tones cannot become less intense. Yesterday, the Iranian parliament became the scene of a session, to say the least, violent in which parliamentarians meanwhile have sang the typical slogans of “death to America”. The vice president of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Pezeshkian, said: “America is the real terrorist that spreads chaos, provides advanced weapons to terrorist groups, and still says come, let’s negotiate". In the meantime, on the part of the Iranian Armed Forces it has been declared directly that in case of conflict, there would have been very serious consequences for US interests in the Middle East. Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesman for the Iranian Joint General Staff, warned: “If the enemy, especially America and its allies in the region, makes the military mistake of firing on the powder magazine where American interests are located, the region will be on fire”. While Abbas Mousavi, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, said he was “ready to face any threat to the integrity of Iran”.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump was keen to point out that he didn't want a war, backed by the Pentagon. He demanded that Tehran renounce the nuclear program and recalled that military intervention is not his preferred option, but that he did not even put it in the drawer. The concept expressed by the head of the White House is that the raid was “only suspended”. This is likely to be a tactic to negotiate with the Iranian government, paralyzing the escalation before it is too late and involving other Middle Eastern actors. But, in the meantime, he wanted to remember that the possibility of an attack on Iranian bases exists. US forces in the Gulf are on stand-by for 72 hours from the day Trump said he stopped planes ten minutes before takeoff, but tomorrow [now today] the deadline expires and the crisis will reach the United Nations Security Council, where an emergency closed-door meeting is planned which promises to be extremely hot. Washington has already announced that in less than 24 hours more heavy sanctions will be launched against Iran: and for the White House, the only way for Tehran to avoid a new economic crisis is to renounce openly to any kind of nuclear program: “You can't have nuclear weapons. And if you want to talk about it, well. Otherwise, you can live in a broken economy for so long to come.” And now the Persian Gulf is boiling.
