Untold Stories in the Case of a Detained Iranian Diplomat

One of the lawyers of Mr. Assadollah Asadi, a diplomat who has been detained for more than two years since July 2018, has mentioned some information for the first time since the arrest of him by the German police…

German police ask Mr. Asadi, "Do you know why we arrested you?" And that police immediately tells a lie: "We took the dog to your car and it smelled and it turned out that there was explosives in the car!!”

The lawyer stated that they did not find any explosives in Mr. Asadi's car and this item is also mentioned in the investigation of this case. But this lie is revealed about two months after the day of arrest; when one of the policemen present at the moment of arrest said that the reaction of the dogs after smelling the diplomat's car was not due to the presence of explosives, but the dog's head got stuck under the car and it howled!

In another part of his article, he mentions that Mr. Asadi, while answering the German police, emphasized that he had been on a personal trip, but now he is on a mission to return to work in Vienna to welcome the President of Iran, but unfortunately what is in the written police report was only part of what he said.

An accurate description of the incident and the full recording of Mr. Asadi's statements certainly influenced the decision of the relevant court in Germany, because crossing any third country to return to work under Article 40 of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations protects the diplomat from any aggression or arrest.
