Russia demonstrates power and determination

Today in Moscow, a traditional grand military parade on Red Square dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day took place. On May 9th, Russia celebrates the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. A military parade on Victory Day, which has become habitual since the 1960’s, demonstrates the power of the Russian Armed Forces.

This year, more than 10,000 people participated in the Victory Parade, which was attended by more than 130 units of modern weaponry: "Tiger" cars, T-90 and "Armata" tanks, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, BMP-3 armored infantry fighting vehicles, "MSTA-S" self-propelled howitzers, "Buk-M2" anti-aircraft missile systems, "Carapace-C” anti-aircraft missile and gun complexes, and "Yars" missile systems.

Mi-26 military transporter, the world’s largest helicopter, accompanied by four Mi-8AMTSh, known as “The Terminator”, followed by Mi-28N “Night Hunter”, Ka-52 “Alligator”, and the Mi-35 attended the aerial part of the parade.

The latest military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A, which will enter service with the aerospace forces of Russia, attended the Victory Parade for the first time. Also in the aerial parade was the following aircraft: AN-124-100 "Ruslan", Su-24 and Su-34 bombers, Su-25, MiG-29, Su-27, and the latest multifunctional fighters Su-35s and MiG-3 fighters, air tanker IL-78, as well as long-range bombers Tu-22M3, Tu-95MS, and Tu-160.

Terrorism - a new threat

In his address to Russian military personnel and veterans, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that in order to maintain peace in the world, "double standards and short-sighted pandering to those who are nurturing new criminal plans are unacceptable", referring to the cooperation of Western countries with terrorists, particularly in Syria. According to the Russian president, terrorism is now a global threat, and Russia "is obliged to defeat evil."
