Elections in Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic
The polling stations continue their work in Transnistria (officially the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic). People are choosing their future president. There are six candidates. However, 12 candidates had been before in the race, but the last one, Gennady Kuzmichev, who served previously as Minister of Internal Affairs, the CEC withdrew him three days before the election. But, according to opinion polls, only about 3% of the citizens were ready to vote for him.
Most likely, the main struggle will be between incumbent President Yevgeny Shevchuk and the Speaker of Parliament, Vadim Krasnosel'skii. However, there is a strong probability that the president will be elected in the second round only because none of the candidates would be able to collect the necessary 50% of votes for the absolute victory.
