The "Swamp" Strikes Back: Conchita Wurst’s candidate wins in Austria

05.12.2016

The candidate of Austrian patriotic forces, Norbert Hofer, has lost to the liberal globalists' candidate, Alexander Van der Bellen, in the second round of presidential elections in Austria.

A Minimum gap

According to preliminary data, Van der Bellen won about 54% of votes, and Hofer claimed around 46%. Taking into consideration the shortcomings of the Austrian electoral system and a series of scandals in the past, Alexander Van der Bellen’s victory cannot be called a confident one. In turn, Hofer has showed courage and has conceded defeat. He said: “I congratulate Alexander Van der Bellen on his success and ask all Austrians to stick together. We are all Austrians, no matter what we decided today. Long live our home Austria”.

Austria in the “swamp”

Alexander Van der Bellen’s victory is the first serious response of the globalists and Atlanticists, more recently called the "swamp", after a series of failures. The successes of Trump in the US, Dodon in Moldova, and Radev in Bulgaria have clearly shown that the influence of worldwide neoliberal networks is weakening.

Despite this fact, these forces have managed to take revenge in Austria. All the outstanding leaders of the  political establishment, from journalists to the stars of show business, the main star of which is Conchita Wurst, have hurried to congratulate Alexander Van der Bellen. Thomas Neuwirth, who performs under the guise of the female personality Conchita Wurst, stood for Alexander Van der Bellen from the very beginning of the presidential race as the main exponent of neo-liberal values.
