Saudi-led coalition's warplanes struck a convoy of vehicles near a taxi stand in Yemeni Central city of Ta’iz, killing at least seven civilians, local sources said on Sunday.

The air strikes hit the vehicles near the Mafraq Sharab junction outside the Southwestern city of Taiz, a military official said, Middle East Eye reported.

Medical sources said hospitals in Taiz received the bodies of seven civilians, while pro-Hadi sources claimed nine popular fighters were killed and 14 people were wounded.

The raid came during sporadic clashes in the city between the allied popular forces loyal to the former president Saleh and Saudi-funded forces loyal to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

The Saudi coalition launched a military campaign against the popular forces of Ansarullah and their allies in March 2015.

The coalition has stepped up its air raids since three months of peace talks in Kuwait collapsed earlier this month.

More than 10,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed since March 2015, and more than 80 percent of the population has been left in need of humanitarian aid, according to the UN.
