Moldova: presidential elections go to second round

Igor Dodon,  leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova has retained the leadership but has failed to get 50 percent of the votes required to win the presidential elections in the first round, according to Moldova's Central Election Commission (CEC).

Although, Dodon declared: «I consider our victory inevitable and everyone should understand this including our political opponents».

However, Igor Dodon has got 48.72 percent of the votes, while Maia Sandu, a Moldovan economist and a pro-European figure got 37.96 percent.

In turn, Maia Sandu said: «Whatever the results, we want to change the political class and we will continue with this project. When I say change I mean real change. Let's get rid of all the corrupt people and bring new people with integrity».
