Kyrgyzstan adopts Constitutional Amendments

According to preliminary results of the referendum, the majority of citizens of Kyrgyzstan (80% of voters) supported the initiative of President Almazbek Atambayev. It was aimed to the introduction of changes in the Constitution, the main of which was to increase the role of the Prime Minister.

Other amendments are related to different spheres of life. So, now it defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, not "two people", as it was before, which underlines the traditionalist and conservative orientation of the government and its supporting by the people.
