Japan and South Korea exchange intelligence data

South Korea’s Defence Ministry has reported that Seoul and Tokyo have held talks about a preliminary pact to share intelligence data. However, two countries have also decided to hold another round of talks before the final signing of this agreement.

South Korea’s Defence Ministry spokesman Moon Sang-gyun said: «The agreement is being sought based on the judgment that [South Korea] needs to share intelligence with Japan to more effectively respond to ever-growing North Korean nuclear and missile threats». Moreover, he added that the signing would be carried out as fast as possible.

However, Japan has earlier doubted the necessity of signing of the contract in the difficult situation of Seoul.
