Uzbekistan and Tajikistan resume transport connection

After the 25-year recess, transport links between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have been resumed. The first flight is going to be launched in January 2017.

The agreement was signed today in Dushanbe by aeronautical authorities of both countries, as reported the head of Civil Aviation Authority Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan Yusuf Rakhmonov.

In addition, the meeting of Tajik-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission was held. During this summit such issues as some bilateral issues, demarcation of borders and facilitation of the transition through them for citizens in the border areas.

On the one hand, the desire of Uzbekistan authorities to stabilize relations with its neighbors could not but be welcomed. On the other hand, Moscow concerns about this situation, because of increasing the influence of terrorist groups in Central Asia, caused by the economic crisis in several countries in the region. Moreover, Tajikistan is a great interest for ISIS at the moment.

Probably, this issue was also discussed by Defence Ministers of Russia and Uzbekistan during the last meeting.
