President of the United States Donald Trump for the first time openly called himself a globalist. This happened during an interview with the Wall Street Journal. Responding to a question about internal disagreements in his administration between officials of a nationalistic and globalist orientation, Trump replied: "Hey, I'm a nationalist and a globalist. Both. And only I make decisions, believe me. " Opposition to globalism from the standpoint of nationalistic "Americanism" was previously one of the pillars of Trump's election program.

In the same interview, Trump said the US would not leave NAFTA, a free trade agreement with Mexico and Canada, which he had previously harshly criticized. In particular, Trump noted that the conclusion of this agreement led to a large-scale outflow of capital from the US and left thousands of Americans out of work.

Previously, Trump abandoned another anti-globalization plan for his election program - the refusal to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. In addition, the Trump administration actually buried the idea of "establishing relations with Russia, and after the meeting with the PRC president, the president moved away from tough anti-Chinese rhetoric.
