Russia-Brazil talks in the 2+2 format were held in Moscow
On February 16, the first Russia-Brazil talks (https://mid.ru/en/foreign_policy/news/1798912/) in the 2+2 format were held in Moscow. The Russian delegation included Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu, while Brazil was represented by Foreign Minister Carlos França and Defence Minister Walter Souza Braga Netto.
The Ministers had a deep and detailed discussion and assessment of development trends in the world and in certain regions, including the military and political aspects. Interaction at the United Nations was also discussed, as was the UN Security Council where Brazil was elected as a non-permanent member for 2022-2023. BRICS and several other international associations were discussed as well. Special attention was given to countering terrorism and drug trafficking, non-proliferation and armament control, and international cybersecurity.
The mutual commitment to strengthen the Russian-Brazilian strategic partnership was reaffirmed.
