Iran's attack on Israel exposes Arab leaders’ complicity sacrificing the rights of the Palestinians

07.05.2024

While most countries applauded Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel, with pro -Iran rallies in Türkiye, Yemen, Bahrain, Indonesia, Malaysia and Europe, the ugly face of sectarianism has reared its head through social media networks amongst the ‘anti Syria anti Assad brigade’ downplaying Iran's victory. along with the revelations by Israelis that Arab leaders had stepped in to “save Israel.”

Closely examining these two factors may give some indication as to why Palestinians have suffered oppression, murder, torture for decades, and how even now after the ‘axis of resistances’ war on Israel is succeeding,  Arabs leaders may sacrifice the Palestinians cause again with Saudi Arabia already arresting any critics of Israel’s war on Gaza and  indicating normalization with the Zionist state after a solution is reached for the Palestinians. Sending a warning signal to resistance groups, that even if a ceasefire comes about, Israel will continue its genocidal policies, emboldened by Arab leaders support which  according to Israel demonstrated “the potential of establishing a regional alliance against Iran” and defeat Hamas.

Today Israel is isolated throughout the world, student protests against the genocide in Gaza have erupted in nearly every country, shocked, after two mass graves were found at Al Shifa and Nasser hospital with murdered nurses' doctors and patients, children, many tortured with hands tied behind their backs. 500 dead bodies in Al Shifa and 395 at Nasser hospital.

Meanwhile Hamas in Gaza is valiantly fighting back, with many Israeli soldiers refusing to go into Rafah. While the North of Israel is nearly empty due to Hezbollah’s missiles. Over 200,000 Israeli settlers have run away, and over half a million are taking flights back to Europe, UK, and US.

At the same time the Houthis launched 606 ballistic missiles and drones against 107 Israeli, US, and UK ships in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait, Gulf of Aden, and Indian Ocean. They also just announced the Yemeni forces, will target all ships heading to Israeli ports  within their reach, to hinder Israel moving into Rafah. Israel is not only facing Hamas and Hezbollah but also bombs from Iraq and a newly formed Bahraini resistance group Al Ashtar Brigades

Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel will go down in history as the greatest victory this century states US military analyst Scott Ritter, echoed also by Professor Richard D Wolff. Ritter argues it was not only Symbolic but a game changer as it established global deterrence something which the UN has been incapable of. As Russia’s Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia pointed out the UN has been taken hostage by the US and unable to reflect the body’s stance on the current Israeli war on Gaza. One can argue the UN lost its credibility decades ago where US vetoed any action in support of Israel.

As a result, Ritter argues the axis of resistance compiled of Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthis in Yemen have re-established global deterrence. He states, “Israel believed that it could launch a strike against Iran and suffer no consequence.” Iran’s strike was designed to send a signal, “that it could do what it did in Nevatim, at Ramona, anywhere in Israel, anywhere in the Middle East, and there was nothing the United States or Israel could do in response.”

Iran’s retaliatory attack exposed two factors: firstly, that Israel with its famous Iron dome, which could not protect it from Iran’s advanced hypersonic and ballistic missiles, is weak and vulnerable. Secondly Iran’s attack also exposed an important unpalatable fact, the past collusion of Arab States had ensured Palestinians never achieved liberation and remained living in a concentration camp for decades, with Israeli prisons full of abused and tortured Palestinians, including children who suffer daily beatings, and psychological and sexual abuse

The collusion of Arab states came to be highlighted more clearly after Israel reported that Arab countries including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, UAE, had stepped in to save Israel. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal Israeli officials stated “the success in stopping so many drones and missiles was due to Arab countries having passed on intelligence... enabling the use of their airspace and providing radar tracking…while “Arab militaries took an active role” and “supplied their own forces to help.” These group of states that many “Israelis reductively” refer to as a “Sunni alliance” included Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, with Türkiye also supplying intelligence.

This complicity appears to have no limits; while the US and UK have been supplying support to Israel by bombing Yemen, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan have provided Israel with a land corridor to avoid the Houthis naval blockade.

If not for October 7th Hamas’s attack on Israel the Arab states were prepared to stand by and watch Israel carry out the nazis “final solution” in Gaza, which according to their logic was necessary to implement the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) a US-and Israeli connectivity project that would link India to Europe via the Gulf.

The initial memorandum of understanding for IMEC was signed by US, the EU, France, Germany, Italy, India, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. The plan hatched by US/ Israel is aimed to not only derail China’s Belt Road Initiative which would have benefitted not only China but also West Asia and Europe but is also aimed at weakening BRICS by engaging India and Saudi Arabia in the IMEC deal.

However, it is not the first time Saudi Arabia and Gulf states have sacrificed the Palestinian cause in the name of progress and US/ Israeli hegemonic ambitions in West Asia.

This partnership is not recent, it became clear at the start of the Syrian war which erupted after President Asaad declined Qatar's proposal to build a ten billion Qatar–Türkiye pipeline through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, and Türkiye. Prompting CIA in collusion with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan to finance covert operations through Al Qaeda linked groups like ISL and Al Nusra Front. Press TV’s journalist Serena Shim was killed by Turkish intelligence after she had reported that Islamic State militants had crossed from Türkiye into Syria on trucks bearing the symbols of the World Food Organisation and other NGOs.

According to Daniel Mabsout in  A world called Israel, “US fears worsened after the Lebanese Resistance inspired” by the 1979 Iranian Islamic Revolution started winning victories over Israel, “so in order to isolate this Resistance”, the World Order used the weapon of sectarianism to fight the forces threatening Israel, “which was Iran, Hezbollah and their allies, mainly Syria”. As a result “the Sunnis were mobilized by the world Order to defend Israel under the cover of sectarianism and anti-Shi’ism.”

Kit Klarenberg in How CIA and M16 created ISIS points to Washington’s think tank  RAND’s November 2008  divide and rule strategy which advised weakening resistance groups by funding jihadist groups and exploiting the “fault lines between (Iraq’s) various Salafi-jihadist groups to turn them against each other” fermenting “internal conflicts,” while “supporting authoritative Sunni governments.”

At the same time, on another front, hundreds of Saudi funded madrassas and mosques in UK and Europe fermented anti Shia sentiments and the need for ‘Muslims to go to Syria to depose President Assad and kill Shias kafirs.’ Saudi Preachers like Mohammed Arifi under the noses of Britain’s MI6 urged the youth not to go to Palestine but to Syria to liberate it. That is why there were many cases like Shamima Begum and her two school friends as well as 20-year-old Nasser Muthana travelling to Syria to support ISIS. Muthana was seen in a YouTube video urging young Muslims to join ISIS in Syria.

One can argue the Syrian conflict was marked with less visibility of NATO forces and more by hordes of Wahabi Salafi mercenaries, trained by the US and funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, descending to Syria committing atrocities, beheadings, rape and murder of Muslim women and children. While Abdallah Tamimi an exiled sheikh from Homs, Syria interviewed by Israeli TV asked Israel to help the Sunnis in Syria and Lebanon to establish Sunni rule to oppress Shias, Christians, and Druze. He repeatedly said, “Israel is not our enemy we want Israel to help us.”

Since the Gaza war started the same elements that supported the FSA and joined Israel and US to attack Syria are now busy on social media, underplaying Iran’s victory.

One such spokesperson very active on the Sunni social media circuit in the UK is Sami Hamdi, Managing Director of the International Interest, a global risk and intelligence company who is part of the ‘anti Assad brigade’ it appears and also maybe a supporter of Free Syrian Army, the same group that has been fighting alongside the US and Israel for regime change in Syria. In his contradictory statements he accuses President Asaad and Iran of committing atrocities in the region killing many Muslims. He argues Iran has been killing Muslims since 1979, not mentioning the fact that combined 80 countries supported Saddam Hussain to attack Iran in 1980’s. He hardly mentions the head chopping practices of ISIS, the atrocities committed by President Bush and Obama, during the war on terror on Muslims or Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo.

While Hamas’s Ismail Haniya has thanked Iran and the Houthis for damaging Israel’s economy, Sami believes the Houthis cannot cause much damage as they have “limited capacity” and how this groups belief that only a selected family (the descendants of the Prophets family) can rule, has caused great damage in Yemen. He ignores the fact the Saudis, the UAE, the Bahrainis, the Kuwaitis all want their selected family to rule. He also argues that the Houthis are fighting Israel for popularity’s sake, and that Gaza does not need military aid rather it needs the support of the ummah through social media and protests. Well, that notion falls down the drain since the same Muslim ummah leaders have normalized with Israel and supporting it against Iran and Hamas’s attacks. He also forgets over a million people just in the UK protested the illegal Iraq war, or Israel’s operation Cast Lead, or Protective Edge, the protests did not stop Prime Minister Blair, President Bush, or Netanyahu.

Sami argues that Iran is also supporting Gaza for popularity, and he does not know ‘what it’s doing in Gaza.’ He argues that ‘no matter what good Iran has done’ it cannot erase the carnage it committed in Syria and Iraq killing Muslims. Also, he despises like most Sunni leaders the late Martyr Qasim Soleimani who also according to Sami killed so many Muslims. He does not once mention that those Muslims were ISL, ISIS or Al Nusra Front, who apparently killed more Muslims than any other group, and if not for Iran, Hezbollah and Russia, Syria would have been destroyed the same as Libya where ISIS terrorists set up slave markets. Syria is so important for Israel that even now its bombing the country and stealing millions of gallons of oil and national resources.

What should be a worrying factor for Palestinians and resistance groups fighting Israel’s ‘final solution’ in Gaza, is to question the motives of these self-proclaimed war analysts. Instead of calling for Muslim unity, which includes Iran, writers like Khaled Abu Toameh who in Gatestone institute argues for sacrificing the rights of Palestinians because “The ongoing cooperation between Iran and the Gaza-based groups poses an imminent threat not only to Israel, but also to the PA, Egypt, and other Arabs.”

Instead of applauding that Iran’s attack on Israel has as Ritter states “established global deterrence,” so Israel /US must think twice before attacking any country in the region to advance Israel’s expansionist Oded Yinon plan, this “anti-Asaad brigade” is worried about Iran.

They also ignore the sentiments of Hamas leaders like Ahmed  Abdel Hadi, who revealed in an interview that Soleimani played a key role in helping Hamas and Islamic Jihad to manufacture and develop their arsenal of rockets. "The martyr Soleimani contributed to the development of the military capabilities of the Palestinian resistance groups because he was fully convinced that there was a need to confront the Zionist entity and its occupation of Palestine,"

The Arab States who stepped in to “save Israel,” with Saudi Arabia oppressing any criticism of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, in the hope to normalise with Israel and pursue the IMEC project, should not ignore the warning of  geopolitical analysts like Ray McGovern, Prof Jeffery Sachs or war veterans like Ritter, who foresees the demise of the US and a more peaceful and prosperous multi polar world emerging. The axis of resistance has not only exposed the myth of Israel’s invincibility but also along with Russia and China have highlighted the hypocrisy of American exceptionalism and the unjust US rules-based order clearly visible through their policies in Gaza and Ukraine.
