The SMO – a watershed in history and hope for the true Europe

The Russian Special Military Operation symbolizes a watershed in history. Before it’s start, there existed an unipolar moment of Western universalism, the uncontested dominance of the trader’s mentality, of matter over spirit. In geopolitical terms, unipolarity was defined by the global dominance of only one civilization, precisely the West with it’s global core in the United States of America, whereas Western allies like the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, Australia etc. only acted as heelers to the global hegemon. Striving for the “end of history”, as coined by Francis Fukuyama, Western elites believed themselves in a “New World Order” wherein Liberalism, Western style democracy and Capitalism would reign supreme. But starting with the intellectual resistance of the Neo-Eurasianist movement led by Prof. Alexander Dugin in post-soviet Russia and the famous Munich speech of Russian president Vladimir Putin at the Munich Security Conference in 2007, this unipolar moment and it’s “Western rules-based order” were put into question and a different, multipolar system was proposed.

Unipolarity versus Multipolarity

Whereas unipolarism is defined by a single pole and only one possible civilization, multipolarism is defined by many poles, at least three and therefore the possibility of many independent civilizations following their own trajectory in the world and therefore creating their own world. Following the ideas of Prince Nikolai Trubetzkoy, the funding father of the Eurasianist movement, multipolarism doesn’t recognize Europe and the West as the sole representative of mankind but only as a part of it. Since then, we can witness the multipolar moment, the uprising of the hero’s mentality (as coined by Werner Sombart in his anti-anglo-saxon WW1 manifesto Händler und Helden[7]) and the revival of the spirit, challenging pure matter once again. Western unipolarism is suggesting the supremacy of Liberalism, the existence of only one civilization – the Western one -  and therefore it’s world-wide implementation of this ideology for the good of humanity, preferring the subject of trader-minded bourgeois over everyone else and furthermore the creation a one-world-government, multipolarism by nature insists on the plurality of civilizations, the multiplicity of forms of governments and therefore creates the possibility of a pluriverse, since every distinct civilization has its own worldview, values, various possible subjects according to its type of government like the warrior-minded hero for example, and as a consequence creating its own world. Taking this existential antagonism between these two possibilities of creating a world order into account, either a chaos dominated by the thalassocratic interests of traders or an order led by the tellurocratic will of heroes, the current conflict for Ukraine between the West and Russia is neither of a mainly economical or geopolitical nature, but one of philosophical significance deciding the future course of mankind.

The SMO as starting point for the liberation of all civilizations

As Mr. Korobov-Latyntsev mentioned in his essay THE GREAT RUSSIAN RECTIFICATION OF NAMES, the very start of SMO was a great moment of joy for all the Russians in the Southeast of Ukraine, who heroically resisted the Western Putsch regime in Kiev since 2014 and its genocide against everything Russian [5,210]. Also, the Anti-Globalist opposition in Europe, not fighting in the trenches of Donbass, but resisting in the lion’s den of Liberalism, the “empire of lies” (as coined by President Putin) and its ideologies of Transhumanism and Globalism, received a glimpse of hope from the start of this struggle - not only for the freedom of Russia and Ukraine from Globalism, but for the liberation of the whole world. The start of the SMO was the start of the struggle for the liberation of all civilizations from Western hegemony. And not only Russian heroes are directly fighting the world evil of Globalism: Since October 7th of 2023, also the Palestinian resistance joined the fight against the Barbarism of Western human rights ideology [3] –- which only recognizes so called “enlightened Western people” as humans, whereas everyone else, not bowing to Liberalism, Capitalism and Materialism isn’t regarded as human anymore. This supremacist behaviour stems from the idea of human rights ideology, which only gives the title of human to a person adhering to Individualism, whereas his collective identity, may it be religion, ethnicity or gender are erased. Therefore, the concept of human rights basically negates the collective aspects from which the single person must be liberated, according to Western ideology. The rebellion of the Shiite part of the Islamic world against Liberalism and Capitalism is triggered by this very ideology which denies the religious dimension of Muslims all around the globe, since it’s not compatible with Western Atheism and Individualism. Whereas the Palestinians are joined by Hezbollah in this fight against the contamination of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Zionist settlers, the movement of Ansar-Allah in Yemen challenged Western maritime hegemony in the Red Sea. All in all, the Shiite part of Islamic civilization already joined the fight for a multipolar world, whereas the biggest Sunni states are still waiting.

What can the anti-hegemonic opposition in Europe do in this struggle?

As Europeans aware of our Christian heritage and deeply moved by the eschatological dimension of this conflict – which is, as Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin pointed out, not only a geopolitical clash between Land and Sea, but also between the civilization of Christianity and the Anti-Christ [8]– we’re often posing ourselves the question: What can we do in this global struggle against Western hegemony? Since our peoples – may it be Austrians, Germans, Frenchmen, Italians - are overwhelmingly seeing themselves as part of the West, how can we rectify our names, as Russians are currently doing in Eurasia? Why are we now part of the civilization of the Sea and behaving as traders? How can we liberate ourselves not only from US-American hegemony, but also from the deeply anti-human nature of Western postmodernity itself, which is a product of our current postmodern civilization? As the great philosopher Martin Heidegger recognized, we Europeans no longer know who we are – we’re suffering from “Seinvergessenheit”, no longer conscious of our being, which leads us into the “Oblivion of being”, fatally mixing philosophy with faith and the belief in science. With the end of Renaissance and the triumph of the nation state over the empire, of materialism over the spirit, the Atomist thinking triumphed over Plato and Aristotle and in conclusion European civilization was fundamentally changed. When we left behind or forgot about the Holy, profanity took over the minds of the Europeans, leading us to the hubris of taking the material wealth produced by overseas trade and Capitalism to be a sign of a supposed “European superiority”. The quantitative logic of “the more, the better” embodying the sin of greed, led to an ideology of overconsumption and comfort. Simultaneously it made turning a blind eye to the horrors it caused among the colonized people, but also among the Europeans itself, easier. A now disenchanted world let to a loss of meaning amongst the Europeans themselves which was covered up the ideology of progress inherent to Liberalism. Progress in this context doesn’t mean the improvement in a spiritual sense, but the simple technic and material betterment of a society. Therefore, it involves technological developments for the sake of progress, not questioning the possible consequences of these developments. From this view the printing press is as much a progress as the maxim gun, canned food as much as the atomic bomb. But in fact, this superiority-complex nurtured military expansionism that let Europeans conquer nearly every corner of the globe, left us spiritually empty afterwards. The urge to conquer in the name of “civilization” caused European civilization being itself an empty hull left behind, as German philosopher Carl Schmitt noticed in his work Der Nomos der Erde[1]. Europe turned into Anti-Europe, “the West”, even long before Americanization started the mental colonization of the “old world” with the consumer society and its black miracles. The consumer himself becomes consumed by animities of the consumer society and strives for an endless life full of comfort, empty of challenges and dangers. As the philosopher Vladimir Varvara pointed out, the West became part of a culture of Euthanasia simultaneously[4]. No longer life was considered from an heroic perspective as a constant struggle against one’s own demons and sins, a chance to purify one’s soul through repentance before the eye of God, but as an opportunity to find as much leisure as possible. Modern Europeans are behaving like little children, seeking as much pleasure as possible, whereas we push away every kind of responsibility for our own deeds. Of course, this fact was not only registered by Europeans themselves, but especially by Russians: As one of the founding fathers of Eurasianism, Prince Nikolay Trubetzkoy, mentioned in Europe and Mankind[2], European Chauvinism and Cosmopolitanism are two sides of the same coin.

European Chauvinism and Cosmopolitanism – the unholy alliance of Swastika and Rainbow Flag

More often, they go hand in hand: As classical Liberalism begot Nationalism, the woke Liberalism 2.0 gave birth to Neofascism and Neo Nazism. Whereas classical Western capitalists moved by the ideas of Social Darwinism and Malthusianism founded Fascist movements to fight Communism and the USSR, nowadays so called “philanthropists” moved by Neo-Malthusianism (the concept of climate change and population reduction) and Globalism are founding movements like the Chauvinist Nationalists of Azov, the Right sector and millenarian Protestant, Wahabbi and Zionist fundamentalists. Whereas every fundamental opposition against this deeply inhumane system inside the West is demonized and ostracized as “Fascist”, “Communist” or “Anti-Semitic” by Western media and elites, real Fascists are murdering Russians with Western help in Ukraine, Wahabi extremists are running amok in parts of Syria and Israeli settlers are committing a genocide right before our eyes on the Muslim and Christian population of Palestine, of course still with the help of Western governments. If we would rectify the flag of the postmodern empire of the European Union, it would no longer consist out of a blue flag with yellow stars. It’s true colours would be the symbol of Cosmopolitanism, LGBTI movements and the destruction of European culture, the “rainbow flag”, whereas in its centre one would see the Swastika as a symbol of European chauvinism. Behind the friendly, pink, open-minded façade of postmodern Western civilization, there lurks in the shadows a deep, frightening and brutal abyss of Chauvinism, ready to assimilate and liquidate everything it deems as the “Other”.

Ex oriente lux – Europe is in need of an intellectual reorientation towards the East

But of course, only a minority of Europeans can see behind this façade, since our academia, media and elites convince ourselves daily that we’re in the camp of civilization and not in the field camp of Barbarism. Therefore, we must start the struggle for the truth and fight academia with counter academia, media with counter media and elites with counter-elites. In this process European dissidents can start to look to the East – ex oriente lux – in order to analyse how other civilizations like Russia-Eurasia, Iran and China tackle Western hegemony, especially on an intellectual level. As the Chinese philosopher Confucius once said, “if concepts are confused, the world is in disarray”. As a result, the great rectification of names is also an imperative for Europe. In this time of great spiritual and intellectual confusion Europe needs intellectual leadership more than ever, we need new philosopher-kings. Living inside postmodernity not only symbolizes the great parody of tradition as French scholar René Guénon stated, it further means the rise of a different form of logos, the matriarchal thinking of Cybele, as Prof. Alexander Dugin highlighted in his philosophical work Noomachia. Consequentially we are in the dire need of deconstructing postmodernity and reorient European thinking towards tradition and around the patriarchal alliance of Apoll and Dionysos, the father and the son, away from the great mother. Only if the Europeans manage to make sense of their own philosophical tradition again they can become a factor independent from the West, since geopolitical multipolarity presupposes intellectual multipolarity on a philosophical level.

The great rectification of names as an imperative for Europe

Therefore, the idea of the great rectification of names proposed by Mr. Korobov-Latyntsev is also an imperative for Europe. As long as we keep living inside the lies uttered by Western elites, we’ll not be able to liberate ourselves from the Satanic civilization of Globalism. Not only Russia needs to proceed with its project of the great Russian rectification of names, but there also is the dire need for a great European rectification of names. Only if we’re fighting the lies of Western elites and countering them with the truth of God, we can wake up the true Europe who lies in the deepest corners of hell. As a friend of mine, the great Russian-Eurasian martyr of the multipolar world Daria Dugina once said, we as philosophers must return to the depths of the Platonic cave in order to enlighten those still trapped in the illusions of the shadows. Also we Europeans have to take a side – the side of God - in this metaphysical battle between good and evil, tradition and postmodernity, land and sea which divides humanity for fundamental reasons[6,p.33]. We need to become eschatological optimists, fighting for the light of truth even if it means our demise in this world, because our struggle is for eternity.
