Iraqi Kurdistan seeking aid from Russia

The request of humanitarian assistance for refugees, caught in the autonomy of the other parts of the country, and military support was made, according to Falah Bakir, head of the KRG’s Department of Foreign Relations (DFR).

Falah Bakir said: «We have made a request to support the Peshmerga forces, which are fighting against terrorism in the face of ISIS for more than two years».

Moscow has not yet given a formal response. Although, the meeting, after which the request was announced, took place at the initiative of Russia, moreover, has been providing a variety of assistance to Iraqi Kurdistan. The actions of the US coalition in Iraq were reported to be counter-productive in contrast to the Peshmerga forces. This information was repeatedly emphasized at a high level.

Russia is certainly going to help Erbil.

Meanwhile, at the moment the Peshmerga forces come to ISIS at the Ba`shiqah area. Kurdish forces are reported to have entered into the strategic city (after two weeks of the encirclement). The operation to liberate Ba`shiqah began on October 23rd.
