Jakarta protest: USA uses Indonesian Muslims against China

Thousands of hard-line Muslims from Greater Jakarta and other cities gathered at the Central Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque to march against Jakarta's governor. The matter is that Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Jakarta's governor is a Christian, is the first ethnic Chinese to hold the governor's post.

Protesters declared: «He is not Muslim but he humiliated the Quran. Don't refer to anything in the Quran, especially interpreting it incorrectly... I call on God to jail him».

Despite the fact, that Basuki Tjahaja Purnama holding the post for two years, Sunni have started to protest right now (after the turn of Indonesia and the Philippines from Washington to Beijing).

Moreover, less than a month ago the Ibero-American Summit was held, during which the need of «strengthening US engagement in the region» was stressed.
