Turkish military, Kurdish militants clash, 7 dead

Turkish troops killed six Kurdish militants in a clash in the restive southeast and one of three soldiers wounded in the firefight died in hospital, the armed forces said in a statement on Friday. Number of casualties are difficult to confirm. The pro-Kurdish Democratic Party says at least 31 civilians have been killed in the fighting. State media put the number of PKK dead at 168.
