Trump: Clinton has ruined the world

Donald Trump pointed to Hillary Clinton as the cause of "so many" of the world's current problems in an interview to air Sunday, attacking, among other decisions, the then-New York senator's vote to authorize the invasion of Iraq in 2002. In turn, the Republican presidential candidate laid blame on Clinton for the rise of the Islamic State, the ongoing refugee crisis and regional turmoil in the Middle East.

"As secretary of state. I mean, the entire world has been upset. The entire world, it's a different place. During Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton's term, she's done a horrible job," the Republican presidential candidate told CBS's John Dickerson in an interview taped Friday night for "Face the Nation."

Clinton, Trump averred, "caused so many of the problems."

"And let me tell you something. She has caused death. She has caused tremendous death with incompetent decisions," he said, before referring to the 2002 vote. "I was against the war in Iraq. I wasn't a politician, but I was against the war in Iraq. She voted for the war in Iraq."

Pressed by Dickerson on the claim that Clinton "caused death," Trump referred to Libya and obliquely to the 2012 Benghazi attacks.

"Well, absolutely. Look at Libya. That was her baby," the Manhattan mogul said from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. "Look. I mean, I'm not even talking about the ambassador and the people with the ambassador. Young, wonderful people. With messages coming in by the hundreds, and she's not even responding. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about all of the death that's been caused and not only our side."

The pushback, Dickerson said, would be people on the other side who would say that invading the Middle East saved lives.

"There was nothing saved. If we would have never done anything in the Middle East, we would have a much safer world right now," Trump said. "Getting rid of Saddam Hussein — I'm not saying he was a good person. He was a bad person. But what we have now is far worse, OK? And all of this has led to ISIS. All of this has led to the migration. All of this has led to tremendous death and destruction. And she for the most part was in charge of it along with Obama."

Trump has engaged with Clinton for playing what he has called the "woman card" in recent weeks.

"Oh, she's constantly playing the woman card. It's the only way she may get elected. I mean frankly," Trump continued. "Personally, I'm not sure that anybody else other than me is going to beat her. And I think she's a flawed candidate. And you see what's happened recently. And it hasn't been a very pretty picture for her or for Bill. Because I'm the only one that's willing to talk about his problems. I mean, what he did and what he has gone through I think is frankly terrible, especially if she wants to play the woman card."

Asked what he meant by that Trump continued, remarking that Clinton is "pandering to the public" and to women.

"I have more respect for women by far than Hillary Clinton has. And I will do more for women than Hillary Clinton will. I will do far more including the protection of our country. She caused a lot of the problems that we have right now," he said. "You could say she caused the migration."
