The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces have taken control of the Handarat heights in north of Aleppo city.

The pro-government forces launched an offensive in order to seize the strategic Handarat refugee camp from the Jaish al-Fatah militant operation room on September 20. At the first stage, the loyalists engaged Jaish al-Fatah militants in the the northern heights of Handarat camp and took control of this area.

Pro-government sources say that the militants sustained tens of casualties during the clashes while pro-militant media outlets argue that up to 20 loyalists were killed.

Now, the pro-government forces are preparing for an advance to re-take the whole refugee camp from militants.

We recall the Syrian army declared the end of nationwide ceasefire on September 19 after the US and US-backed ‘opposition forces’ failed to fulfil their commitments under the Geneva deal.
