Strongman Uzbek leader is buried in native city

The first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on Saturday was buried in the cemetery of Shahi Zinda in Samarkand, in this cemetery are buried the parents of Karimov.

September 2nd Uzbekistan officially announced that Karimov died on 79 th year of life. In connection with the death of the president of the country authorities declared three days of mourning. Karimov has served as president of Uzbekistan since the country gained independence - since 1991.

The last journey of Islam Karimov saw off several thousand people - citizens, politicians and foreign delegations.

The official successor to Karimov has not yet been appointed. Experts fear the destabilization of the situation in the country.
