Quetta attack: at least 60 killed

Tuesday, 25 October, 2016 - 12:15

Militants attacked a Police Training Centre in Quetta, Pakistan.

Moreover, militants reportedly entered into the hostels and opened fire, possibly also taking some police personnel hostage. When the attack took place, there were around 700 police cadets in the college. During the overnight attack 60 cadets were dead, and 118 people injured. This data made this event as one of the deadliest strikes in the country this year.

The attack on the Balochistan Police College began at around 11.10 pm last night, triggering an operation by Pakistani security forces who rescued hundreds of cadets from the academy.

However, none of terrorist groups has claimed responsibility for this incident. Balochistan is one of Pakistan's most restless provinces.  Besides, Quetta is a strategic point for militants, who are using the route Kandahar-Quetta.
