Oppositioners in Armenia declared the new "velvet revolution"

Today the elections of the Prime Minister take place in Armenia. The head of the ruling Republican Party, Serzh Sargsyan, who is applying for a new post, had a speech in the parliament. He was nominated by the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and supported by ARF Dashnaktsutyun, a coalition partner.

Sargsyan himself explained his nomination for the post of prime minister by the fact that the security of Armenia at the moment requires maximum responsibility for the country's leadership.

In Yerevan the police blocked the Bagramyan Avenue, where the building of the Armenian parliament is located, the police put special equipment to the parliament building, including water cannons and armored vehicles, Interfax reports.

The day before in the Armenian capital have passed the protests, the situation is shaken by pro-American forces. Formally activists oppose Sargsyan's appointment as the post of prime minister after two terms of his presidency. After changing of system the main power will be concentrated in hands of the head of the Parliament, not the president, and the globalists are against the Eurasian way of Armenia, which is supported by Sargsyan.

The leader of protests Nicol Pashinyan has declared the beginning of "total disobedience" to the authorities.

"I officially declare that the country is in a revolutionary situation," Pashinyan said today. "A popular nonviolent velvet revolution begins."

Pashinyan and his liberal supporters say that Armenia's decision to join the Eurasian Economic Union is wrong, and that will have a bad effect on the country. They want for Armenia the European integration and follow the path of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas (for the association with the EU).

In Armenia, there is a network of anti-state pro-American NGOs that have been activated recently. Many oppositionists urge Yerevan to take a tough stance on Nagorno-Karabakh and to oppose Russia. It is possible that their goal is to change the power to a loyal to West, and also they want that Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to enter hot phase

Pashinyan urged young people to lie down under buses to paralyze traffic, between the doors of subway cars, leave their cars on the streets.

Pashinyan already has a rich experience of organizing the destabilization in Armenia - as in 2016, when dozens of people were injured.

Yesterday the protesters unsuccessfully tried to get to the parliament, today, as the media reported, they are trying to seize the prosecutor's office building and again make their way to the government in the Republic Square and block the entrance to the building.

As the portal haqqin.az informs, the police remain on Baghramyan Street, where the representatives of the country's top leadership are now. The police, who arrived in the tent city on the square of France, want to talk with Pashinyan.
