The real reason of Mateusz Piskorski’s persecution

19.05.2016

Polish politician Mateusz Piskorski has been detained on Wednesday morning by ABW, Polish intelligence agency. Other members of Zmiana political party, including its deputy chairman Konrad Rękas and secretary Tomasz Jankowski, were also persecuted. Officers were especially interested in hard disks and other data storage devices as well as various documents. According to maistream media, Piskorski's detainment was allegedly caused by suspicion of his espionage activity for People's Republic of China.

However, the true reason of this action seems to be different. There are many politicians, journalists and NGO's whose activities can be easily described as an agents of influence. For example, renowned neoconservative journalist Tomasz Sakiewicz, who had been awarded by Security Service of Ukraine for his contribution in pro-Ukrainian propaganda or plenty of Polish MP's who had taken part in US Congress program of internship for foreign politicians. It's also worth to mention the Fundacja Batorego, very influential liberal think tank, funded in 1988 by George Soros, who is well-known especially because of his commitment in various soft-power activities of western powers.

Therefore, one cannot explain the persecution of Mateusz Piskorski as a part of routine counterintelligence policy. The real cause of his detention was forthcoming Warsaw NATO Summit. Before this event neoconservative authorities of Poland want various groups questioning pro-western politics to be under close control. Because Polish government wants to convince Americans to shift NATO military bases from Germany to Poland, it has to persuade its American allies that entire society accepts the presence of American soldiers on Polish soil. They're determined to achieve this goal even despite openly hostile steps of Washington towards current government due to its allegedly authoritarian policy against Constitutional Tribunal.

Merely two days eariler former US president Bill Clinton had said that Polish Law and Justice party as well as Hungarian Fidesz lead both countries to "Putin-like dictatorships". Apparently even many of such inimical statements can't change the mindset of key political figures of current authorities. It's enough to mention the attitude of some important members of government towards Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). Despite of its dangerous impact on national sovereignity and country's economy, some ministers are ready to accept it if Americans agree to shift military bases to the eastern border of NATO in order to neutralize alleged Russian threat. If we took into account these arguments, it would be much easier to comprehend the real reasons of Mateusz Piskorski's persecution.
