With The Militarily Potential Of Being a Hegemonic Hawk, Pakistan Prefers To Be a Peaceful Dove
01.04.2019
Pakistan celebrated her resolution day on 23rd of March 2019 with full zeal and zest. The celebrations started from the 31 gun salute in federal capital and 21 salute in the provincial capitals. From Gawadar to Khunjerab, Pakistan resolution day has been celebrated with great excitement. The people of Pakistan enchanted the slogans of Pakistan Zindabad and Pak Army Paindabad. Every nook and corner has been decorated with the green and white flag and green and white lights. Special prayers have been offered in the mosques for the stability and prosperity of Pakistan.
Military personnel from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, China, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Turkey participated in the Parade and ensured their brotherly support towards Pakistan.
On the day of 23rd March 2019, the Pakistan Day parade has been held at the Parade Ground Shakarparian, Islamabad. Malaysian Prime Minister, Dr Mahathir Bin Mohammad was the guest of honor in the Pakistan Day Parade of 2019. Prime Minister Imran Khan, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mehmood Hayat, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi also witnessed the ceremony. The spectacular show of military muscle has been carried out. All the three forces –Pak Army, Pak Navy, Pak Air force- participated in the Pakistan day parade and exhibited their great wartime potential and expertise, thus sending a great message to the adversaries of Pakistan. Military personnel from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, China, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Turkey participated in the Parade and ensured their brotherly support towards Pakistan.
Amid, high military credibility and defense potential Pakistan preferred the road to peace instead of following the path of bellicosity as followed by her arch rivals. President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, mentioned in his Pakistan Day’s speech that Pakistan maintains a peace posture but she knows how to defend herself. He said, “We do not believe in war and want to solve problems through dialogue, today’s parade is sending the message that we are a peaceful people but we will never be oblivious of our defense.” He further said, “Pakistan respects all the countries’ sovereignty and wishes peace but our desire for peace should not be misconstrued as a sign of weakness, Instead of wars, we should focus on education, health, hunger, employment and extremist mindset. Our real war is against unemployment and poverty.”
Instead of being a South Asian hegemonic hawk like her eastern neighbor, Pakistan preferred to be the regional peaceful dove.
Similarly, Prime Minister, Imran Khan, also welcomed Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s message, and said, “I believe it’s time to begin a comprehensive dialogue with India to address and resolve all issues. The dispute over the former princely state of Kashmir sparked the first two of three wars between India and Pakistan after independence in 1947. They fought the second in 1965, and a third, largely over what becomes Bangladesh, in 1971.” Therefore, instead of being a South Asian hegemonic hawk like her eastern neighbor, Pakistan preferred to be the regional peaceful dove.
The respect with which Dr Mahathir Bin Mohammad held the green flag in his hands and kissed it, sufficiently explains the strengthening of Pak-Malaysian bilateral bond.
The participation of various nations in the Pakistan Day Parade is a practical manifestation of the fact that all these nations are also militarily standing by Pakistan. The way with which the Turkish military personnel enchanted Pakistan Zindabad has cemented the fact that Turkey will always support Pakistan in the need of hour. In addition to this, the respect with which Dr Mahathir Bin Mohammad held the green flag in his hands and kissed it, sufficiently explains the strengthening of Pak-Malaysian bilateral bond. Lastly, the civil-military harmonization and the expertise of all the wings of Pakistan’s defense forces point towards the stark reality that The Islamic Republic of Pakistan knows how to defend herself and how to retaliate against any foreign act of aggression.
