Syria to have two permanent Russian military bases

11.10.2016

Following the decision to use the Hmeymim Air Force base near Latakia on a permanent basis, the port in Tartus will also become a full-fledged naval base.

A realistic need

This decision is due to the lack of interest on the part of the US and its satellites to combat terrorist threats, and instead resorts to blackmail against Russia. The leadership of the Russian Federation stated that the military presence in the country will be for a long time, which means that they intend to take decisive action.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Pankov said that currently work is underway on the arrangement of the port.

At the moment, on the shores of Syria, three Russian Navy rocket carrying ships have been deployed. Last week, Russian S-300  anti-aircraft  systems were delivered to Syria.

More new bases

In addition, the representative of the Russian Defense Ministry said that talks are underway to resume the work of the Russian bases in Vietnam and Cuba. There was also an announcement about the creation of a Russian military base in Egypt.
