Georgia officially becomes an EU colony

On July 1st, 2016 the Association Agreement between the European Union and Georgia enters force. The agreement was signed in 2014. Contrary to popular opinion, Georgia will not receive a visa-free regime with the EU, but its already weak sovereignty will be even more significantly limited.

Association does not mean membership

The Association Agreement is a standard procedure for countries that aspire to become part of the EU. However, not all countries with which the EU signs such an agreement then enter the Union. For example, association agreements with the EU were signed by Morocco and Egypt. However, both countries are not even considered to be potential candidates for EU membership.

Simple neocolonialism

The Association Agreement was concluded in the framework of the broader European Neighborhood Policy. Its main purpose is to open the markets of foreign countries to European products and introduce EU norms into the legal systems of associated states (acquis communautaire). Both objectives were spelled out in the agreement between the EU and Georgia. In addition, the state which signs an association agreement is simultaneously obliged to implement European manufacturing standards on its territory. Associated states cannot participate in the activities of EU institutions and cannot not affect the adoption of the very rules that they are obliged to implement. In fact, the Association Agreement, is nothing more than a form of voluntary neocolonialism.

A blow to the Georgian economy

Removing trade barriers with the EU and implementing European norms of manufacturing across the country (which entails costs and loss of competitiveness) could end very badly for the already weak Georgian economy. Non-compliance with the EU’s requirements by Georgian goods (if anyone will produce them) will most likely never find their way to the European market. But the strong EU economy can crush weaker Georgia.

Abolishing visas is not planned

It is worth noting that the Association Agreement does not provide for the abolition of the visa regime between the EU and Georgia, but only posits such to be a goal for which the two sides will strive. This indicates that the EU is interested above all in the Georgian market, rather than the Georgian labor force.

Sodomites enjoy support

The Association Agreement also provides for Georgia’s obligatory protection of all minorities (by which the EU generally understands, first and foremost, sodomites) and realizing “gender equality and nondiscrimination.” This means that the EU will have the right to legally interfere in Georgia’s internal affairs to advance gender ideology with renewed vigor.

Alternative

The only alternative to the Georgian economy’s self-destruction by the Association Agreement with the EU is the integration of those countries on the same level of economic development as Georgia and on whose markets Georgian products will be in demand. These are the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. At the same time, within the framework of Eurasian integration Georgia will not be obliged to give up its own Orthodox identity in favor of “minority rights.”
