Today, most countries in the Global South remain on Russia's side, considering it their most important ally and supporter. Many African states are dissatisfied with the Western policy of spreading “freedom and democracy” and are aware of the West's colonial past in Africa. Modern political scientists believe that the key to the formation of a new world order may be the foreign policy stance of a large number of developing countries on the African continent, which in turn demonstrate increasing independence from the “liberal” camp represented by the countries of the collective West.

What has just taken place in Moscow is nothing less than a new Yalta, which, incidentally, is in Crimea. But unlike the momentous meeting of US President Franklin Roosevelt, Soviet Leader Joseph Stalin, and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in USSR-run Crimea in 1945, this is the first time in arguably five centuries that no political leader from the west is setting the global agenda.

Former Chinese Ambassador to the US and newly appointed Foreign Minister (FM) Qin Gang paid the first overseas trip of his present tenure to Africa in keeping with 33 years of tradition. In a rational environment, the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) would discuss alleviating the trials and tribulations of the Global South, especially Africa.

That won’t be the case. Like a deer caught in the geopolitical headlights, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued platitudes about a gloomy “winter of global discontent,” even as the proverbial imperial doomsayers criticized the UN’s “crisis of faith” and blasted the “unprovoked war” started by Russia.

Angola: history and geopolitics

04.08.2022

The Republic of Angola is a state located in southwestern Africa. To the west it is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south it borders with Namibia, to the north with the Democratic Republic of Congo and to the east with Zambia. The predominant language of the population is Portuguese, used by 71% of the total population. Therefore, Angola is the second country in the world after Brazil, where the official language is Portuguese. This is due to the fact that Angola has long been a colony of Portugal. The colonial period begins in 1483, with the arrival of the Portuguese under the command of Diogo Cau. And only in 1974, after the war of independence, Angola received the status of an independent republic.
