Thursday, 17 November, 2016 - 12:30

The seventh military exercises «Bastion Strategic Exercise – 2016» in the country's history have started in Cuba. The previous war games were held in 2013.

Raul Castro spoke with the appropriate order. He added the measures should be carried out effectively and efficiently, "based on the principle that the revolutionary guard will never lose vigilance in order to strengthen the defense capability."

The aim of these exercises was to achieve the cohesion between the governments, commands, armies, economic institutions and the population. In addition, the maneuvers are noted to be a part of a campaign against the fifty-year Cuban blockade introduced by the United States.

After a three-day exercise the days of the National Defence will be held in Cuba, including the tactical training of troops.
