The Turkish government extended the state of emergency for an additional three-month period, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus announced on Monday.

"The state of emergency will be extended starting from October 19 for another three-month period," said Numan Kurtulmus, Turkish Minute reported.

The extension came as Turkey's top national security body on Wednesday called for the extension of the state of emergency imposed after the 15 July pro-american coup.

Erdogan declared the three-month state of emergency on 20 July.

Turkey continues to clean out the pro-american spy-networks in the country. Thoes networks have been active and played a leading role during the failed coup.
