British intelligence agency MI6 will greatly increase the number of its spies. It is intended that their number will be increased to 3,500 by 2020. Now the intelligence network has about 2,500 people.

This was stated by head of department Alex Younger. According to him, the need to increase the professional staff is connected with the growing threat of Islamist terrorism.

It was not mentioned how MI6 will train and recruit new spies.

We recall that British intelligence is actively working on the territory of Russia. In 2006, the FSB was able to establish that British agents in Moscow who were engaged in illegal collection of information by means of a special device, disguised as a stone. This has caused a major diplomatic row between the two countries.
