Ukraine loses voting right in the UN

Thursday, 3 November, 2016 - 19:15

The debt of Ukraine to the United Nations has amounted to US $ 1.7 million, without counting the unpaid annual fee of $ 2.6 million, of which was settled only $ 39 thousand.

According to the Charter of the UN, a country, whose debt exceeds the amount of the contributions (being due for two last full years), will have no vote in the UN. Ukraine is expected to follow that way, if it fails to pay the required amount. Despite the constant «tips of the Wes», Kiev doesn’t have money to repay the debt, because the selected US and European finance are miraculously disappearing before reaching directly to the budget.

Similarly, Ukraine has lost its observer status in the International Association of viticulture.

However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine considers the UN membership as a priority. Other priority organizations are the Council of Europe, the OSCE, the WTO and the UNESCO. Besides, if Ukraine loses the right to vote, it would not be a disaster, moreover, most of the world would not notice the lack of Kiev.

Taking into consideration the adoption of the recent resolutions, in particular, the information security, for which all UN member states voted, the work of the United Nations will be even more coherent and efficient.

The total Ukrainian debt to international organizations is $ 20 million.
