The two-day talks between the leaders President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akıncı were held.

In the UN statement it has been reported that the parties could not agree on a common opinion. It means that the final stage can not be started. However, both sides have promised to make every effort to normalize the situation and continue to work on the terms of settlement.

The impasse has arisen because of Greece demands to withdraw unilaterally Turkish troops. Akıncı’s spokesman Baris Burcu accused the Greek Cypriot side of being inflexible and illogical in negotiations.
