Germany is to form a NATO batallion in lithuania

Germany will begin to work on the formation of NATO battalion that will be stationed in Lithuania. This was reported in the Ministry of Defence of the Baltic republic. Head Office Juozas Olekas during a telephone conversation  informed German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen about this fact.

"Germany is planning to take the lead in forming a battle group of NATO battalion", - stated Olekas. It was also  said that In Vilnius they  appreciate this Berlin's decision. "This solution is achieved through the coordinated efforts of various institutions of Lithuania and is to increase our security," - said the head of the Defense Ministry.

The minister claimed that the decision on the deployment of NATO battalion in Lithuania is expected to be taken in July at the NATO summit in Warsaw. The report did not specify whether the battalion battle group will be formed entierly from the members of  Bundeswehr, or it will include military and other NATO countries.
