Assistant of the President of Iran spoke in favor of the use of the Hamadan base by Russia

Russia should resume the use of the air base of Hamadan in Iran. This was stated in an interview with the Special Assistant to the President of Iran on the issues of ethnic and religious minorities Hojjat al-Islam Ali Yunesi.

"I think it's important, strategic and military cooperation is necessary, to counter the threat of terrorism," - said Yunesi, commenting on the deployment of Russian forces in the Iranian military base.

He praised the security cooperation between Moscow and Tehran, spoke for joint military exercises. According  to Yunesi, Iran today is a strong state, and therefore it should not be afraid to cooperate with the superpowers and even to enter into military alliances.

Russian Tu-22M3 and Su-34 appeared on the 3rd Tactical Air Force Base at Hamadan Iran not later than 15 August 2016. On August 16 aircraft struck the first blow to the rebels in Syria, soaring as highlighted in the Russian Defense Ministry, with a full combat load. A week later, the use of the air base was closed.
