Asma al-Asaad, the Lady of Steadfastness
An active woman who humbly and on daily basis attends various social, political and charitable ceremonies and activities organised by in civil society organisations and youth initiatives. She walks with respect and courtesy, among the crowds, she Syria’s First Lady, the Lady of Jasmine, Asma al-Asaad.
The First Lady's illness, which is an early-diagnosed breast cancer, would not defeat this great woman. The woman, who loved her people and country, has been sincerely fighting the world who has been colluding against Syria. Al-Assad continues her work despite her treatment sessions, with a smile.
She stresses, “I am from this people who taught the world the steadfastness, the strength and to face difficulties. My determination stems from your determination and persistence all the past years.”
Al-Assad was born, in London, in 1975, to Syrian cardiologist Fawaz Akhras and his wife, Sahar Otri, a diplomat at the Syrian Embassy. She grew up in a middle-class neighbourhood in Acton, West London, and obtained degrees in computer science and French literature at Kings College. After graduating, she worked for three years in finance for the banking firms Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan.
Al-Assad was due to start studying for a Masters degree in business administration at Harvard, however, at the age of 25, her plans changed after meeting Bashar al-Assad on holiday in Syria in 2000, after he assumed the presidency in July 2000 following the death of his father Hafez al-Asaad.
She is a model of resistance and has been subjected like many Syrians to the brutal global imposed war. She stands along with her husband, his Highness Dr President Bashar al-Assad to support the families of the martyrs, the wounded and the needy.
Like any other Syrian woman, By the aid of God, Syrian doctors, in Syrian national hospitals, have begun treating Asma al-Asaad, unlike the wives of the Arab kings and presidents. Al-Assad has played a role in the steadfastness of her husband against the United States of America and the Zionist entity’s conspiracy, since the beginning of the war on Syria in 2011.
The Syrian Presidency’s Facebook account announced, on Wednesday, 8 August 2018, “Strongly, confidently and faithfully, Mrs. Asma al-Assad started the first stage of treatment of a malignant tumor in the breast which was discovered in its early stage.” According to the account, she is receiving treatment at one of the military hospitals in Damascus city.
Nothing like the arrogant Gulf kings and princes, who revel in wealth and glory, the Assads have consistently been equal to their people and have not set themselves apart. When the terrorists target any civil facilities, President Assad and the First Lady joins the people because she believes that all Syrians are at risk. The 41-year-old mother of three would not set herself apart but she shares their burdens and miseries.
In spite of the 7-years long imperialist war on Syria, Asma al Assad has remained in her homeland, behind with her husband and children, facing the same risks like the rest of the nation. Unbeatable by any hostile force or malignant tumour, she is a precious woman who has the attributes of grace, strength, beauty, wisdom, and wit and heart.
The British-born wife of President Bashar al-Assad refused guarantees of protection and financial security in exchange for leaving war-torn Syria with her three children, Hafez, Zain and Karim. During this brutal war, she has supported her country and nation and stands courageously against the cancer of terrorism. She has been working to raise their morale in the face of the most ruthless terrorist propaganda.
She said, in the interview published on the Syrian Presidency’s site, “It does not take a genius to know what these people were really after. It was never about my well-being or my children. It was a deliberate attempt to shatter people's confidence in their president.” She added, “I have been here since the beginning, and I never thought of being anywhere else at all.”
By God’s will, she who has defeated the cancer terrorism would undoubtedly defeat this malignant tumour. The Lady of Jasmine was with every woman. She stood in solidarity with my mother and me and every displayed woman, during the 2006 war against Lebanon, and supported us in all possible means. She was with us, so on behalf of every Lebanese and particularly Southern woman, let us be in her ordeal. God bless our First Lady in all her battles and bring her a speedy recovery and tremendous victory. May he heal her and all the patients.
