The elections were pre-term, an initiative that was mandated by parliament. "Nur Otan" received 82% of the vote in the election. Second place was won by the party "Ak Zhol" with 7.18% of the vote, with the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan claiming 7.14% of the vote. The other parties did not pass into parliament (there is a 7% threshold in Kazakhstan).
The election results show that residents are generally supportive of the president, and believe his considered hard-man rule system to be most suitable for the country. The peculiarity of Kazakhstan is that it is trying to combine a non-linear policy that seeks to preserve the country's sovereignty within the vector of Eurasian integration. It was Nursultan Nazarbayev, in 1994, who initiated the idea to create a Eurasian Union.
After Nazarbayev himself voted at the polling station, he refused to rule out changes to the Constitution. According to the results, the republic may cease to be super-Presidential. The country’s leader did not specify what the specific reforms to the power system would entail.
