Frank-Walter Steinmeier: ‘old world of 20th century is finally over’

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has stated in his new article published in Bild am Sonntag, that with Trump coming to power, the previous era is over.

“With the election of Donald Trump, the old world of the 20th century is finally over”, said Steinmeier.

At the same time, he has stressed that how the “world of tomorrow” is going to be look like is still an open issue.

According to Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Germany hopes for “the newly re-strengthened equal partnership between Europe and the United States” based on free trade, “exchange and openness, cooperation in the fight against extremism and terrorism and transatlantic cooperation”. However, the Minister has also noted that his country must be ready for “turbulent” times during the whole term of U.S. President Donald Trump.
