Wikileaks dumps hundreds of Macron emails

Macron’s presidential campaign is being exposed by WikiLeaks after 21 000 "verified" emails were released in which Brexit is mentioned hundreds of times. The Macron campaign was also following everything Marine le Pen did in great detail.

Julian Assange says the emails have been verified through its DKIM system. Some 21 075 of emails have been verified through “domain keys”, the organisation said in a statement. The documents range between March 2009 and April 24, 2017.

WikiLeaks believes “based on statistical sampling” that the “overwhelming majority” of the remainder are also authentic. “As the emails are often in chains and include portions of each other, it is usually possible to confirm the integrity other emails in the chain as a result of the DKIM verified emails within it.”

No traces of a Russian involvement could be found in the earlier the cyberattack on Macron’s election campaign. An investigation into the hack concluded that could have been carried out by anyone.

“The attack was so generic and simple that it could have been practically anyone,” Guillaume Poupard, the head of France’s cyber security agency Anssi, told the Associated Press on 1 June.

The latest trove containing thousands of emails were released on Monday as a searchable index.

Multiple emails go against Brexit. Macron’s industrial and military adviser said in several posts that Britain should be kept in the EU because it is the “most important” military player in Europe.

Another adviser told Macron that the EU seemed less attractive without Britain.
