US Department of State will less provide “democratization program” next year

According to the adopted budget of 2017 the US Department of State is going to provide much less money than last year to such issues as to “counter Russian aggression” and “democratization” of the CIS countries. The amount of nearly a billion dollars was in the past plan of the budget, but this year several tens of millions will be paid on all countries of the region.

However, a significant part of the funding (about $ 13 million) will go to Azerbaijan this year, most likely the purpose is to destabilize the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict. In turn, $ 520 thousand will be sent for “training of journalists” in Belarus.

Moreover, last year the bulk of the funding for these items was sent to Ukraine and Moldova, which has not brought any visible preferences to Washington, as in the case of Moldova, even in some ways it had the opposite effect. However, most likely, the money is simply not reached the destination (various NGOs). For example, this situation could be also explained by the complete failure of the protests in Moldova after Igor Dodon’s victory.

At least, $ 4.3 billion was aimed at “creating the stable government in Europe”. Any comments over Washington’s work at the European territory would be superfluous.
