Trump signed the protocol on accession of Montenegro to NATO
US President Donald Trump signed a protocol on the accession of Montenegro to NATO. Earlier in late March, the document was ratified by the US Senate. In order for Montenegro to become a full-fledged member of the North Atlantic alliance, it is necessary that the protocol be ratified by all NATO member states. Spain and the Netherlands are two states that have not yet done so, but after the document was approved by US lawmakers and signed by Donald Trump, there is no doubt that both Madrid and The Hague will formally approve the new enlargement of the alliance.
The accession of Montenegro to NATO caused massive protests in the country, but Milo Djukanovic, the country's criminal leader, managed to consolidate power and push the country's entry into an aggressive organization without taking into account the opinion of the people and holding a referendum on this issue.
