South Korea: former U.N. chief Ban eligible to run for President

According to an expert group of the South Korean parliament, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon can hold a governmental position.

This group NARS has prepared a report, which refuting Ban's opponents claims that former UN secretary generals are not able to do it. They say that the UN resolution has non-obligatory nature, and has just a recommending point for former UN secretary generals not to take up and hold high governmental positions.

However, after the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye on December 9 th, 2016, Ban Ki-moon is considered to be one of the most potential candidates for the position of South Korean president.
