The corresponding statement was made by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan, in which the update data on the amount of remaining refugees in Pakistan and returning refugees in Afghanistan was released.

According to this new information, the number of returning refugees has increased dramatically this year. Now the number of them reached 350,000 people, by the end of the year it is expected to be closer to 450,000. However, most of them settle in the eastern Nangarhar, the eastern province of Afghanistan and Kunduz, the northeastern province.

There are also moving flows of internally displaced persons, fleeing from military operations in the south. In the last week the number has reached 37,000.

The UN predicts a humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan, because of these high rates of population growth and uneven distribution.
